By Appointment

As the sun was setting, she created a glow that made for a perfect seductress to coax me from the cushion I had sunken into.

In the dimming light the sunflowers were beginning to show what they had been hiding beneath their enclosed petals, like a tease.

There is no other word but awe.

Multiple times each day I visit the rows of flowers to glimpse how they grow, and how they change. They seem to reveal this phenomenon in a manner in which we are all touched.

My limbs pull me in the direction of the fields that have become titillating and coquetish with my soul.

With a promise to return at first light, I said goodnight to these enchantresses.

As I laid my head upon the pillow, I confirmed to myself that I am a person of her word. These beauties had more to show me with the first light, and so I would wake with the sun to greet them.

Between dream and sleep I tussled with the commitment I had made. The miracle of seed to flower, won the gentle struggle to lift me from a slumber that had been anticipating what was to come, all through the night.

Still a little heavy eyed, the dog and I went to say good morning to the yellow majesties, who had indeed been willing to show more of what had been kept secret.

Is it possible we both felt seen, and now could begin another day with an experience of the remarkable.

Another day begins with surrendering to that which is sacred and that which will die.

And that which will have left the seeds for more life to grow.
